Curriculum & Credentials

Kreative Kids Learning Center serves children ranging from six weeks to twelve years of age. The Center provides developmental screening, education and programming that is individualized to enrich each child’s knowledge and abilities. The Center provides before and after care for children and offers a full day summer school age program.

Teacher/Child Ratio

The relationship between teacher and child plays a significant role in healthy skill and personality development. The Center maintains low ratios to enhance relationship building. Our (teacher:child) ratios are: six week to 15 months (1:4); 15 months to two years (1:5); two-year-olds (1:8); preschool (1:10) and school age (1:20).

The Center uses “Creative Curriculum” and the “Illinois Early Learning Standards” as the basis for programming and lesson planning. Creative curriculum is a “child driven” curriculum which means that staff develop lesson plans that stem from the expressed interests of the children in the classroom. Lesson plans focus on communication, language and reasoning, gross and fine motor development, social/emotional skills and problem solving. The Illinois Learning Standards help staff focus on developing the skills and abilities they will need to be successful when they reach school age.

Developmental Assessments

Center staff routinely evaluate the developmental progress of children using the “Ages & Stages Developmental Assessment Instrument.” The findings from the assessment are used to identify individual learning objectives for each child. Children found to have substantial delays are further assess to develop a plan of action.

Individual Lesson Plans

Each of the children, preschool age or younger, have a specific developmental plan to enhance their learning and development. Staff record each child’s progress in the child’s individual profile. Staff share information about children’s activities and experience with parents/caregivers daily.

Parent Involvement

At Kreative Kids we view ourselves as partners with parents/caregivers in developing children’s potential. The Center has an open door policy for parents and we welcome parents to visit and help out in the classroom. Staff routinely communicate with parents about children’s activities and significant events from the day. Formal parent/teacher conferences are scheduled in November and April to enhance our partnership to help children achieve and thrive.

Gold Circle of Quality

The staff’s passion for teaching and caring for children has earned the Center a “Gold Circle of Quality” rating from Excelerate Illinois, which is the highest rating available from the Illinois Quality Rating System.
